Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy describes how Berner University ("we") handles information when you use berneru.org. The site publishes schedules, class notes, and health information cards from the Berner University conference. Questions about this policy go to the contact page or to linda@berneru.org.

Information you give us

The site has no accounts and no order form. If you email the organizers, we receive the address you write from, what you write, and any details you choose to include. We use that only to answer you and to run the conference. We do not sell personal information.

Information collected automatically

The web server records standard log data: IP address, browser type, referring page, the page requested, and the time of the request. Logs are used to keep the site working, to diagnose errors, and to understand roughly which pages are read. Hosting and the content-delivery network in front of the site may process the same technical data to deliver pages and to block abuse.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels) as follows:

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking them may stop measurement and personalized ads; the articles, schedules, and health cards will still load.

Advertising, including Google

We use Google AdSense and other advertising partners to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.

Those vendors may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, to collect information as a result of ad serving. That can include the ads you see, whether you clicked them, and a cookie identifier. We do not control the cookies set by ad partners.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party cookies at the Digital Advertising Alliance, and, if you are in Europe, at Your Online Choices.

How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services is explained at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google's advertising technologies are described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland may be asked for consent before personalized ads or certain advertising cookies are used. Until a consent choice is available for those regions, ads there may be limited or non-personalized.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and receives usage data from this site. Google's description of that processing is at Google's privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Children

This website is written for adults who own or work with dogs. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has emailed us personal information, write to linda@berneru.org and we will delete it.

Health information

Health Information Cards on this site are general educational handouts. The site does not collect your dog's medical records or ask you to submit symptoms. Those pages are not veterinary advice. See the disclaimer.

Links to other sites

Schedules and the links page point to other websites, including the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America. Those sites have their own policies. This policy applies only to berneru.org.

How long we keep information

Email is kept as long as needed to handle the question and to keep a record of conference arrangements. Server logs and analytics data are kept for the periods set by the host and by Google, then deleted or aggregated. You may ask us to delete an email conversation you had with us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Continued use of the site after that date means you are reading the current policy.
