About Berner University
Taking the lead in Berner education
Berner University is a two-day educational conference for people who live with, breed, train, or care for Bernese Mountain Dogs. It convenes once each year at the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America National Specialty. Seminars and workshops are taught by veterinary researchers, animal behaviorists, and BMDCA members with experience in breeding, conformation, stewardship, health, and dog sports. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in most classes.
What this website is for
berneru.org is the public home of that conference. It keeps the program available after the weekend is over: yearly schedules, class descriptions, faculty biographies, registration notes, a photo gallery, and the Health Information Cards handed out on site. Past conference pages stay online so owners can still read the material.
The site is an educational resource. It does not sell dogs, and the health cards are general information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Read the disclaimer before relying on any health page.
Who it is for
The conference and this archive are for owners, breeders, handlers, and other friends of the breed who want to learn more about Bernese Mountain Dogs. Admission has always been a wish to learn. Fees, dates, and the host hotel are announced with each year's specialty and are written on that year's page.
Who to contact
Conference questions go to the organizers listed on the contact page: Linda Seaver at [email protected] and Andrea Brin at [email protected]. A question about one specific year may also name a registrar on that year's page.
